Hi UTS families,

When Melissa reached out to me with an idea of a youth x-country initiative, we couldn't be more excited to support. Serving a dual role as Chairman of BaseCamp 31, a local 501 c 3 not-for-profit with a mission of "healthy community", and Director of Health & Fitness services at Pro-Activity, I'm very fortunate to work with a team of folks passionate about the role health, fitness, and athletics can have in the development of young people into future community leaders, and we are very much looking forward to sharing that with all of you and your children.

You may have heard that our group will be providing program development, oversight and coaching, and we are incredibly pleased to tap Dr. Stephanie Charnigo from our team to serve as Head Coach and club liaison. Stephanie, in addition to holding a Clinical Doctorate in physical therapy with a focus on sport and performance, is also an active professional runner, racing at the elite level under sponsorship from Saucony, and most recently finishing 8th at the USATF Outdoor National Championships in the 1500m. Relying on both her clinical and athletic backgrounds and leveraging the skills sets and experience of our entire professional team, Stephanie will be working along with Dr. Justin Bagley (10+ years injury-prevention clinical experience, ultra-marathoner and triathlete) and Chris Gahagan (head strength & conditioning coach) to develop a program that keeps the emphasis where most appropriate for young developing bodies....one where proper movement (gait analysis, running mechanics, etc), training load (distance, volume, frequency, intensity), and fun is balanced to ensure a safe, engaging and age-appropriate progression.

Should you have any questions prior, please don't hesitate to reach out. We look forward to seeing you on Monday 9/28 for our first practice and parents meeting!
