Chess – Chess Club is coming to UTES! Yes! Thank you, Mr. Eric Nash! The mission for our Chess Club is to broaden the horizons of young minds through chess and offer them mental gymnastics on a regular basis. The children will learn abstract concepts of planning, analysis and strategy through the game of chess. They will build self-confidence, improve concentration, develop self-learning tools and learn how to evaluate their own decision making process through mastering the game of chess. They will be able to test the newly acquired skills in competition with each other, with our middle school volunteers and other special guests. Chess also teaches the importance of behavior management: making good choices and considering all possibilities. This club is a win-win!
Eric Nash has lived in Union Township with his wife, Linda, since 2005.  He currently has three children who attend UTES:  Brooke is in the 3rd grade, Sophie is in the 2nd grade, and William is in the Pre-K program.  His family loves to be outdoors, including running, biking, and hiking.  He grew up playing chess with his father and would love to pass on his love of chess to any students who are interested.

Field Hockey –Did you know that field hockey is played all over the world by men and women, one of the most popular sports for men and the 3rd most popular sport in the world by fans? Now your children (both boys and girls) can try to learn it in our Field Hockey club. During the 6-week clinic, we will work on the fundamentals of field hockey - holding the stick, ball movement, dribbling, passing and some game situations. The 1-hour sessions will incorporate a warm up, drills and fun games, using all that we learned. Your child will need mouth guard and shin pads to participate.
Founded in 2016, the Omega FH Club provides travel teams, clinics, classes and college recruiting specialists to field hockey players in NJ and eastern PA. We pride ourselves on working on the fundamentals with a focus on strong coach to player ratio for individualized attention and team unity. Our coaches are former college coaches, college players and we just love hockey, wanting to pass along that passion to others.
